Delhi to Guwahati for Summer Holiday in Northeast 2024 #travelvlog

Join us on this exciting series of Summer holidays in Northeast 2024 where we are flying to northeast, Assam . This summer we are gonna spend quality time at our ancestral home in Assam, soaking in the rich culture, natural beauty, and tranquility of Assam. From booking our flight to landing in Guwahati and exploring the hidden gems of the region, come along as we embark on this memorable adventure.

Our Travel Details:

We booked our flights through Skyscanner, which helped us find the best deals for our trip. We chose Air India for our journey, known for its comfortable service and convenient timings. Here’s a quick rundown of our travel itinerary:

• Airline: Air India
• Departure: Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi (DEL)
• Arrival: Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, Guwahati (GAU)
• Flight Duration: Approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes

The Journey:

1. Preparing for the Trip

As we packed our bags and prepared for the journey, the excitement was palpable. Packing light was key, focusing on summer essentials, comfortable clothing, and, of course, our camera gear to capture all the beautiful moments.

2. At Delhi Airport

Our journey began at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi. We had planned to enjoy a delicious lunch at the airport, but unfortunately, we arrived late. Our flight was departing from the T3 terminal

3. In-Flight Experience

This time, we experimented by choosing the last row of seats, expecting some peace and space away from the crowd. Unfortunately, it was not the case. Upon reaching our seats, we discovered several disappointments:

• The window seat we paid for was missing a window.
• The seats in the last row had no push-back feature.
• Being close to the toilets, we faced constant disturbance from passengers queuing up, which hampered our in-flight peace.

Overall, the experience was disappointing, and we do not recommend choosing the last row for a comfortable flight.

4. Arrival in Guwahati

Landing in Guwahati, we were greeted by the warm, humid air and the sight of verdant hills in the distance. Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport is relatively small but efficient, and we quickly collected our luggage and headed out.

Our plans on Exploring Guwahati and Assam:

Due to the heavy floods currently affecting the region, we may need to adjust our plans based on the situation on the ground. However, these are some of the places we hope to visit if conditions allow:

1. Kamakhya Temple and Ambubachi Mela

One of our first potential stops is the famous Kamakhya Temple, a major pilgrimage site and a symbol of Assamese culture. The temple, perched atop Nilachal Hill, offers stunning views of the city and the Brahmaputra River. We also plan to attend the Ambubachi Mela, an annual festival celebrated at Kamakhya Temple, which draws devotees from all over the country.

4. Kaziranga National Park

If the weather and flood situation improve, a day trip to Kaziranga National Park is on our list. Home to the one-horned rhinoceros, the park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and offers an incredible wildlife experience.

5. Meghalaya and Shillong

Another exciting part of our trip includes exploring the neighboring state of Meghalaya. If conditions are favorable, we plan to visit Shillong, known as the “Scotland of the East,” for its stunning landscapes, waterfalls, and vibrant culture. The cool climate and lush greenery make Shillong a perfect getaway from the summer heat.

6. Majuli Island

Another potential excursion is to Majuli Island, one of the world’s largest river islands. Majuli is known for its unique culture, vibrant festivals, and beautiful satras (monasteries). If conditions are favorable, we plan to spend the day exploring the island, interacting with the locals, and learning about their way of life.

Wrapping Up:

Since there is a heavy emergency flood situation going on around Assam, we are not sure how many places we will be able to vlog. But stay tuned to my channel for more videos on each of the sightseeing spots we manage to visit. We hope to share as much of this beautiful region as possible, despite the challenges.
